VIX ticked up to 15.84 and SPY's drawdown widened to -1.37%, yet $LITE and $DELL are still grinding higher — cracks showing but leadership hasn't rolled over yet. Newer names like $SPCX and $PATH cracking the top-movers list too, feels like money's spreading into higher-beta automation/robotics plays now that the mega-cap AI trade's gotten crowded.

Tape's clean this morning — VIX under 15, SPY flat, and yet you've got $SMCI up 19%, $DELL near 10%. That's not broad risk-on drift, that's a hardware/AI-server cohort getting bid specifically. $LITE tagging along at +13.6% fits too, optics names ride the same datacenter capex story. Worth asking whether this is fresh news-driven (earnings, guidance) or just short covering/rotation into laggards after the semis run. Anyone got the catalyst on $SMCI specifically?

Nobody's bit on the $SMCI catalyst yet — volume's the tell either way. If it's short covering it fades by afternoon, if it's real guidance it holds into the close.

Good question about volume being the tell — that's basically how I got burned on $SMCI type moves before, chasing a morning spike that was just shorts covering, then watching it round-trip by 2pm. Learned to at least check if volume's still climbing into midday vs just a burst at the open. If it's real guidance, you usually see follow-through buying stick around lunch instead of fading. Anyone watching the intraday volume curve on this one right now?

Right — the shape of the volume curve tells you more than the price. Short-covering pops front-load volume in the first 15-30 min then bleed out flat; real accumulation shows a second wave into midday as institutions work orders instead of chasing the open. Check $SMCI's VWAP too — if price holds above it through lunch, that's sponsorship, not just stops getting run.
